My Work

I've delved deep into the realm of improving User Experience (UX) and User Interface (UI) across a spectrum of projects. Seamlessly integrating storytelling with gameplay using 3D elements, I aimed to create an immersive gaming encounter. I worked towards making a simulation game more accessible while preserving its intricacies. Another focus was on transforming and streamlining UI/UX components, enriching a re-commerce platform. These endeavors collectively sharpened my aptitude for crafting captivating and user-centered digital engagements spanning various domains.

Planet Zoo

The project aims to enhance the User Experience (UX) and User Interface (UI) of Planet Zoo for new players. Focused on addressing the initial complexity, the revamped UI/UX seeks to create a more inviting entry point. The onboarding process will be streamlined through gradual introduction of gameplay mechanics via tooltips and interactive tutorials. The interface will prioritize clarity, employing intuitive icons and organized layouts to aid easy navigation. To guide players, a campaign mode will progressively introduce concepts. Graphics will be optimized to succinctly convey animal needs and habitat conditions. Customization options will be unlocked gradually to prevent overwhelming novices. A contextual help system will provide real-time information, while feedback mechanisms will gather player input for ongoing improvements. Advanced players will still access intricate mechanics, maintaining depth. Iterative design and user testing will drive continuous enhancements. Ultimately, the project endeavors to strike a balance between accessibility for newcomers and the intricate simulation aspects, catering to both educational and entertainment aspects of the game.

Carousell

Carousell stands as the dominant re-commerce group in Greater Southeast Asia, advocating the sale of pre-owned, new, and used items by everyday sellers. Co-founded by Quek Siu Rui, Marcus Tan, and Lucas Ngoo on May 14, 2012, Carousell swiftly gained prominence among Singaporeans, emphasizing the user experience within e-commerce. By fostering a user-friendly platform, anyone could effortlessly create an account and list items. The integration of social media channels like Facebook enabled users to expand their networks. Facilitating item searches, a prominent search bar on the homepage and an AI-powered "for you" tab offered personalized product suggestions. Notably, Carousell introduced direct communication between buyers and sellers, enhancing transparency and trust. This feature, combined with the review system, fostered a deeper level of confidence compared to traditional one-sided e-commerce transactions.

The overarching objective is to enhance Carousell's appeal to buyers and diversify options for sellers. While both segments benefit, the focus leans towards UI/UX improvements from the buyer's viewpoint to bolster customer influx. Through these refinements, potential customers can seamlessly navigate and discover optimal products. The low-fidelity prototype underwent multiple buyer-centered alterations, including icon reorganization and feature suggestions. Iterative playtesting informed adjustments, leading to the updated mid-fidelity prototype. This iteration offers users a clearer navigational flow, integrating feedback from testers to refine the interactive digital prototype for the assignment's culmination.

Englightenment

In this captivating 3D game, players guide the protagonist, Apricot, on an enthralling journey through a mysterious pyramid. Entranced by its intricate hieroglyphics, Apricot explores deeper, only to find herself trapped as nightfall looms. A mysterious voice emerges from the shadows, becoming her guide and revealing that her escape hinges on finding four sacred artifacts hidden within the tomb.

Throughout her quest, Apricot's journey is enriched with a seamless User Experience (UX) and User Interface (UI). The game balances exploration, puzzle-solving, and personal growth, mirroring Apricot's transformation from awe-struck to audacious adventurer. Engaging menus and UI elements keep players immersed in the experience.

The meticulously designed in-game UI, main menu, and pause menu ensure intuitive navigation. A clock timer creates urgency, heightening players' engagement as time ticks away. Control menus, both in-game and within the main menu, offer streamlined interaction, enhancing overall usability.

Notably, an achievement UI celebrates players' progress, reminding them of their collected artifacts and offering puzzle-solving cues. This clever integration of UI elements enhances the sense of accomplishment and progression, enhancing the immersive experience.

As Apricot encounters challenges and confronts uncertainties, the UX/UI elements subtly echo her emotional journey. The thoughtful design underscores her courage and determination, while the clues and achievement reminders drive players forward. Ultimately, this synthesis of UX/UI elements guides Apricot—and players—towards triumph as she escapes the pyramid.
